Mediterranean Socks - Pattern

Inspired by the summer breeze and the colour of the Mediterranean Sea, these socks are designed to make you travel to Barcelona! Close your eyes, see the beach, feel the sun, hear the ocean waves…

Designed also with a special yarn in mind, my hand dyed variegated colourway ‘Mar el poder del mar’: plenty of blue tones that resembles the Mediterranean, and inspired by one of my favourite love songs ever. Seems a perfect match!

These socks are knitted toe up, two at a time, with a circular needle in magic loop, so the whole pair can be finished in one take. They feature a rounded toe for a better fit, a heel flap gusset without picking up stitches for a smooth finish and a lacey stretchy bind off for extra comfort. The stitches are easy to memorize, making this a perfect pattern for a quick knitting project!

Needle: US size 1.5 / Metric 2.5 mm or size needed to achieve gauge, 40”/100 cm circular needle is recommended to work socks 2 at a time. Alternatively, tou can use a 32”/80 cm circular needle or DPNs if preferred. 
Yarn used: Ovejita Be! Sock&Roll (Sock-Fingering, 75% Superwash Merino wool, 25% Nylon; 425m/100 g). One skein in ’Mar el poder del mar’ colourway. 
Yardarge: 250-270 meters/ 262-295 yards for size S and 24 cm/9.5” foot length. 350-390 meters / 380-427 yards for size L. 
Gauge: 30 sts in 10 cm/4”, in wave lace stitch after blocking. Number of rows isn’t important, as length is adjustable.

Final measurements: in foot circumference 
Size S – 20 cm / 8” 
Size L- 24 cm / 9.5”
